Annual Employment Event \
Highlands LLEN facilitate an annual employment event as part of our Structured Workplace Learning portfolio which occurs during the Commerce Ballarat B31 Ballarat Business Festival. This event is broadly focused on employment for young people and the topics covered change each year based on needs scoped and refined by Highlands LLEN.
Previous years have seen a Jobs and Skills Drive format with interactive workshops for Secondary School students and young job seekers. The 2019 event focused on local businesses and exploring the challenges they face when employing young people, as well as the resources and information needed to allow young employees and employers to thrive together.
Flexible Learning Forum \
The Flexible Learning Forum is an event focused on showcasing new initiatives, providing professional development and facilitating networking for those working in flexible learning programs and other professionals working in education reengagement.
The event features a range of speakers from the youth work and education sectors who present on new ideas and explore best practice in the flexible learning sector.
Get Into Games (GIG) \
The Get Into Games (GIG) Expo is a large-scale event which is focused on the game development and technology industry. GIG engages Secondary School students with industry professionals to encourage pathways from school into the gaming and technology workforce.
Highlands LLEN is an active member of the organising committee along with our partners The City of Ballarat, Federation University Australia, The Game Developers Association of Australia, GUF Games and Telstra. This annual event is an inspiring day that includes presentations from gaming professionals, exciting workshops and fun video games.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The Highlands LLEN Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held during the first half of the year and is a time for our Members and other community individuals to come together and explore the events and achievements of the Highlands LLEN in the preceding year.
The Annual Report is presented and new Committee of Management members elected during the evening. With an engaging and knowledgeable guest speaker, the AGM is an event which showcases the work of the Highlands LLEN to Members and the broader community.
