School Based Apprenticeships allow students to combine learning at school through their VCE/VCAL studies with paid work and training in a specific industry area leading to a Vocational Educational & Training qualification.

…for employers…

Provides you with an opportunity to employ and train a young person on a part time basis (usually averaging 10 to 15 hours per week)

Enables you, in consultation with a TAFE or other Registered Training Organisation, to develop an accredited training program which is paid for by the State Government

Gives you, on successful completion by the trainee, the option of offering full time work, an apprenticeship or higher level traineeship to a person you know and has been trained specifically for your business.
